It’s summer camp time!
City of Irvine Summer Camps
The Community Services Department offers an impressive array of summer camps over 10 weeks, from June 13-Aug. 19. Sports, art, dance, chess, cooking, science, etiquette and engineering; there are camps and classes in most every subject. The spring edition of Inside Irvine is an essential resource for parents and families planning for summer camps and enrichment courses. If you missed yours in the mail, course information can be found online with issues of the publication also available at city offices.
CodeREV Tech Camps
Students ages 6-14 who are interested in technology can learn how to become coders, creators, game designers, programmers, and developers during week-long sessions at LePort School in the Irvine Spectrum area.
Financial Literacy Summer Program
UCI Paul Merage School of Business offers a summer program for underserved 8th and 9th grade students designed to teach life skills in money and investment management. It also encourages kids to plan for and seek admission into colleges or universities, while building confidence and success in all areas of life. The program for young men is July 17-23. The program for young women is July 31-Aug. 6.
Irvine Public Schools Foundation
Each year, IPSF offers summer enrichment classes for elementary, middle, and high school students from all school districts. There’s a strong emphasis on STEAM courses (science, technology, engineering, art and math), as well as everything from dance to language classes. There are classes for K-12 students, and they are held in the familiar surroundings of Irvine elementary schools. Classes start in mid June.
Lil’ Chef School
Kids can learn to cook, as well as improve a variety of skills during these culinary camps. There are three age groups so young chefs can learn together: Tiny Chefs 4-6, Lil’ Chefs 7-9 and Teen Chefs 10 and older. All chefs wear aprons and get to taste everything that they cook. Camps start June 13.
Summer Academies in the Arts
UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts High school, middle school and elementary school students can explore courses in music and drama (including apprenticeships at the New Swan Theatre), as well as art and dance on the UCI campus.
