Irvine Meadows Summer Concert Series to be sponsored by FivePoint
But that may not mean an end to outdoor music in Irvine. A new amphitheater site, not far from the current site, is being considered. Aliso Viejo-based FivePoint, who today announced its sponsorship, is developing in partnership with the city of Irvine the 688 acres of the Orange County Great Park. The company reports that it has committed $2 million toward the study and planning of facilities within a planned Cultural Terrace where a new amphitheater is proposed.
The proposed Cultural Terrace would be located near the Irvine Transportation Center at the south end of the Great Park.
“Few places can match Orange County on a summer night to enjoy a live performance and we are delighted to help make the final season at Irvine Meadows the most memorable yet,” said Emile Haddad, Chairman and CEO of FivePoint. “For the past 35 years, Irvine Meadows has hosted generations of diverse fans that reflect the energy and creativity of Orange County. FivePoint is honored to support that tradition and we are eager to help keep it alive.”
FivePoint’s sponsorship includes cash, in-kind support for the current season and collaboration to work to bring live music to the Great Park, according to Steve Churm, FivePoint Chief Communications Officer.
Live Nation President Bret Gallagher, said, “While Irvine Meadows will be missed, the support of partners like FivePoint ensures the final season will be a worthy cap to an amazing tradition. A place as dynamic as Orange County deserves a stage that attracts the top acts in the world.”
