The curtain hasn’t come down quite yet on Irvine Meadows' 35-year run as Orange County’s favorite outdoor music stage. FivePoint, the venue’s new sponsor, will assure that music lovers are able to make the most of the final summer concert series prior to Irvine Meadows closing for good in the fall.

But that may not mean an end to outdoor music in Irvine. A new amphitheater site, not far from the current site, is being considered. Aliso Viejo-based FivePoint, who today announced its sponsorship, is developing in partnership with the city of Irvine the 688 acres of the Orange County Great Park. The company reports that it has committed $2 million toward the study and planning of facilities within a planned Cultural Terrace where a new amphitheater is proposed.

The proposed Cultural Terrace would be located near the Irvine Transportation Center at the south end of the Great Park.

“Few places can match Orange County on a summer night to enjoy a live performance and we are delighted to help make the final season at Irvine Meadows the most memorable yet,” said Emile Haddad, Chairman and CEO of FivePoint. “For the past 35 years, Irvine Meadows has hosted generations of diverse fans that reflect the energy and creativity of Orange County. FivePoint is honored to support that tradition and we are eager to help keep it alive.”

FivePoint’s sponsorship includes cash, in-kind support for the current season and collaboration to work to bring live music to the Great Park, according to Steve Churm, FivePoint Chief Communications Officer.

Live Nation President Bret Gallagher, said, “While Irvine Meadows will be missed, the support of partners like FivePoint ensures the final season will be a worthy cap to an amazing tradition. A place as dynamic as Orange County deserves a stage that attracts the top acts in the world.”

Let's keep Irvine meadows alive for years
To come. It's a great place for summer
Concert and other events. I think having it
Next to the Irvine transportation center is
Good so guest can take the train to the
Amphitheater and less traffic in the streets.

Have been coming here regularly since
it's existence and will be So so sad to see it close. Five Points, I will be forever grateful if we can do it again at the Great Park. Every time there's a concert that's not in Orange County you have to take almost a half a day off work just to get there please keep the music alive in Orange County!! Thank you so much!

Why would the only one popular place for outdoor entertainment located in the good area considered to be closed. This does not make any sense honestly.

Because its a lease and the Irvine Co wants its land back for apartments.

Wow. This is surprising. There is no other venue with as many dates as Irvine Meadows. The Pacific Amphatheater is only open during the fair and there is really nothing current to see. I hope that is is reconsidered and stays open.
