Orange County Veterans Legacy Series
|
One of the most-watched initiatives in Irvine is the Southern California Veterans Cemetery. The Irvine City Council and the State of California have approved the site located at Bake Parkway and the 5 Freeway. If voters support the cemetery with a "yes" vote on the June 5 ballot, construction will begin soon after, according to city officials. If voters reject the referendum, there will no longer be an approved veterans cemetery site in Irvine.
In order to allow voters who are considering the issues surrounding the cemetery to hear from veterans first-hand, Irvine City News has produced the Orange County Veterans Legacy Series. Each video shares the reality of serving one's country, with stories of patriotism, loyalty, camaraderie, sacrifice and service–all told through first-person accounts by Orange County veterans. The first video on the page includes all six featured veterans and captures their desire to have a veterans cemetery in Irvine. Bill Sandlin, Vietnam Veteran
