A Conversation with Danai Gurira at UCI
Danai Gurira may be best known for playing zombie killer Michonne in “The Walking Dead,” but she’s also a Tony-nominated playwright for “Eclipsed,” the first Broadway show to feature an entirely black and female cast and creative team. She’ll be at Crystal Cove Auditorium, UCI Student Center, as part of Illuminations, an art and culture initiative by UCI’s chancellor.

The annual multicultural festival at Bill Barber Park is the city’s biggest community event, featuring performances on five stages and international cuisine, all celebrating the incredible diversity of Irvine. Off-site parking with complimentary shuttle service provided. A pre-event “Walk for Unity” will take place at 9 a.m.

The city offers this free opportunity for those 50+ to learn how to improve health and well being through exercise, nutrition and more. Fitness demonstrations include Yoga, MELT, Pilates, Barre Strength dance and Tai Chi. There will also be an opportunity drawing. 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Rancho Senior Center.
