To celebrate back-to-school shopping, the Irvine Spectrum Center is hosting an endless summer festival from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 15.

“This event officially marks the start of one of our busiest shopping seasons at Irvine Spectrum Center,” Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Co. Retail Properties, said in a statement.

YouTube-style bloggers Maddi Bragg and Suede Brooks will be at the event. There will also be activities for shoppers including:

• Free rides on the Giant Wheel

• A braid bar and flash tattoo station

• A station to make your own dreamcatcher

• A photo booth outfitted with a vintage VW bus for selfies

• Live performances from local rock band The Brevet (3 to 5 p.m.)

EXPANDED SHOPPING HOURS

Fashion Island has extended its Saturday hours until 9 p.m. until Sept. 5. The Irvine Co.’s other major shopping destination, the Irvine Spectrum Center, has extended its hours until 11 p.m. all week until Sept. 7.

Alton Square in Irvine has a Late Night Summer Eats program, where some restaurants are open until midnight this summer.
